Yep strange one about the water. I've had people say river water is fine but salt water isn't??
Ive heard that salt water can be bad for the skin and coat if not rinsed with fresh water when you get home.
Intersting thread. basil has a very thin coat (presumably due to the heat here) its very shiny though and in otherwise good condition.
I would love to see his natural winter coat if we ever go home to the UK. i assume it would just thicken if we returned and his double coat would be clearer?

Think of all the time i could save doing less housework if Basil didnt moult. He seems to shed a bit all year round with 2 almighty alapecia sessions a year where its just everywhere - your underwear drawer, the firdge, books etc. Its like magic travelling hair - And thats even when we vacuum and mop daily
