Hi guys....just to let you know that Baxter, the older boy, went to his new mummys home today. He was a very good boy on the journey there, slept on the back seat of the car all the way, bless him. He has now had a bath and a dry off in the sunshine, and smells a bit sweeter. He has had some good food and plenty of TLC. His new mummy would like to say a very special thank you to all who were involved in transporting him down, she is very gratefull to you all....virtual flowers and bottles if wine all round.....and if I ever meet up with any of you guys I will definately buy you a drink........you are all stars.
Hi all, just to let you know that Baxter arrived safely yesterday from the rescue kennels. Ross drove me down to Chessington in Surrey which was just as well as the journey involved the M25 round Heathrow airport which was horrendous. Of course it happened to be Epsom races as well which increased the traffic!!!
Baxter is a lovely old boy, he's like a big chocolate bear. He has a big head and his coat was awful. He had a lion like mane round his neck and shoulders of just moulting hair but it's so dry and coarse unlike a labrador. He was very very scurfy and I got loads of hair off him after I gave him a bath in the late afternoon sunshine. He really enjoyed that but he got me as wet as him as he kept shaking and the water flew off him all over me but we had fun!!! After he went off and rolled and rolled on the lawn for a good itch. He is still quite thin, but was wormed this morning and will be off to the vets for a course of vaccinations on monday. His tail hasn't stopped wagging yet and he's got on well with the other dogs. He has an old haematoma on his left ear possibly due to an old injury. He slept in my bedroom last night and I didn't hear a peep out of him. He ignored the dog bed with a sleeping bag in it and decided it was best to sleep on the carpet at the foot of my bed. Mitzi was little bossy but decided it best to accept him sharing her bedroom!! I think he may have been kept outside. He's a wonderful old boy and whoever neglected and starved him, dumped him on the streets to leave him to do 7 days in the dog pound with the threat of being put to sleep, well I would like to do it to them. They have missed out on having a wonderful dog. Many thanks to everyone, LRRSE and Rochdale Dog Rescue who helped him down his path to his forever home. Regards, Pat and Baxter.
