Incidentally, Angus (Izzys Sire for the viewing public) had a couple of lean leggy stages in Junior until he settled at his 'Graduate' weight about about 2 and a bit. I judged him at about 20 months and he still had a bit to go.
Di
And he also didn't have to watch his weight due to injury he has about 12 kilos on Izzy at the moment At the moment, I think I'd rather have her leaner and getting fit, than weighty to look good

basically, whether you believe them based on whether you would say THEIR dogs are too fat!
Terrier meal is small peices of dried meat..and most small pet shops sell it from open bags, and will sell you it by the kilo... larger store like PAH will only sell the bulk 15kg bags etc.. but you dont feed the dog this.. just had small hadfull put into the dinner bowl along with their main food...
When we first started showing our pups we were told that they were far to thin and would never stand a chance in the ring. They actually did ok, but we decided not to show them too much as pups and instead left them to mature. Meg is now 2 &1/2 years old and is just starting to look nice and rather than being fat, she seems to have just filled out and her body dropped.
It worries me so much to see these poor fat puppies waddling around the ring, their poor little legs and joints It doesnt seem as bad as it used to be a couple of years ago but i would personally prefer to see some weight off a lot of the showdogs. Our boy Beau is nicely covered, but slim by showdog standards. He's doing really well in the ring, but we dont plan to show him much as a puppy and are going to give him plenty of time to mature first
As your girl has had an operation (i think??) my last priority would be putting the weight on for showing. If she was mine i'd be taking her to hydrotherapy to get the muscle built up first and ensure that she is physically healthy before worrying about fattening her up. Showing is not worth risking the health of your dog
Well i think she looks a lovely weight

Thankyou
You're right, Izzy has had an op for her cruciate ligament, which is why I'd prefer to keep the weight off a litttle while longer
She has been going to hydro-therapy, she's done 14 sessions so far, luckily the insurance will pay out £750 each year, which is about 6 months worth, so we will make the most of that
Ooh.. DEFINATELY keep the weight off!! Does she have the plate? If so there is always going to be a risk that the plate could break if she has too much weight on so i would be wary of ever letting her get overweight. Keep up with the hydrotherapy and get her nicely muscled up because i have noticed a lot of judges now commenting on the lack of muscle on the older dogs which is great
I dont see any reason why a healthy, strong but NOT fat lab who has correct comformation shouldnt do as well, if not better in the ring than a fat one with good comformation So if i were you i'd get her leg strong and healthy then have a go at some open shows and see how she goes - she looks gorgeous to me though
