God, I've tried cooked liver, garlic sausage, frankfurters, smelly cheese. The smelly stuff works best. HOWEVER at my last show the judge would not permit baiting .
Hi Sue thanks for that, i was shocked when the judge pulled us out as i said to you at the show its the first show this year i have been a bit nervous of Charlie with other dogs, this show was his trail if he played me up it was going to be his last and i would of had him castrated coz he does think he is a stallion dog or bitch he's not bothered, we got to the show late so i think it was getting a bit hot to, the only way i could get him to look perky was to tell him to get ready to catch the sausage which he likes to play, its nice to know that there are some nice judges out there you know what i mean every body that shows poor Charlie i have just entered him in the Welsh kennel club show and many others that are coming up. Good luck at Swansea we are off to Bath James is in junior handling
I know what you are saying about the shock though if you are not expecting it (always the nicest ones ) - last year I had Clover and Hally in the same graduate class - 6 entries - including some Crufts qualifiers - Clover came first and Hally second - I was like a fish in shock - my mouth kept opening but nothing came out
and I got more satisfaction out of Hally's second (Bless her) than Clover's first
Liver cake everytime for us. Tots was soooooo attentive on Sunday, I kept wanting to hug her, she was so good, and we got 2 2nds - think we were up for 1st in Novice but think judge made her final decision on coat. I tend to have a parade of dogs following me when the 'ole liver cake is in the treat bag, one very nice young FCR really took to me on sunday, I could have happily brought him home (all his brother wanted to do was hump Tots!!!! ) - what is it about my girl, think she has TART tattoed on her bottom!
Little sausages are good too cos they are not as messy, and so easy to get hold of in the supermarket - and you don't smell so much, but must admit I prefer to put up with the smell if it gets the desired attention!!!
Edited to say: - who was 'the 1st boy' in that class then Sue?
but must admit I prefer to put up with the smell if it gets the desired attention!!!
Last time I went in the ring with something REALLY smelly was for BIS show line up at a local Limit show - my treats were so strong smelling I attracted the attenion of the two GSP's in front of us - needless to say, their owners were not particularly happy
The boy who came 1st was Sheenaron Merry Lucifer Of Brycheiniog - I can honestly say I don't think I have been to an Open show when he is there where he hasn't won his class
