Jack is confined to the house at the moment, due to being diagnosed with hock arthritis. He is only allowed on short walks to do his 'business', but hopefully his exercise will increase this week.
Anyway, I am always looking for new ideas/toys etc to keep him and his mind occupied. His has 3 Kong type toys, which I fill with his mashed up food, and these are great. They keep him occupied for hours. I was in one of our local pet shops on Friday and came across a new toy called a fill-n-freeze. The idea is to, using the funnel provided, fill the bone with liquid then freeze. The dog then extracts the liquid through the holes as it melts. Brilliant, I thought. So I paid my £6.50 for the large one and took it home and filled it up.
Jack loved it for all of a couple of minutes. He managed to chew the end and burst the bone. It is now useless. It, in my opinion, is only suitable for dogs who aren't big chewers. It would be great for them.
Oh well, back to the drawing board!

You can fill the ordinary Kong with pieces of cheese, sausage, peanut butter, plain yoghurt etc and freeze it.......keeps em going ages Wink Personally prefer to use natural stuffings....cant imagine what would be in the liquid in the fill n freeze toy Confused

Unfortuently Jack has skin problems and allergies as well! At the moment, until told otherwise, he is on a strict diet of Purina HA. As much as I'd love, so would Jack, to fill his Kongs with all these lovely treats, I can't. Thanks anyway for the advice, will keep it in mind for the future.

You could moisten the food into a mush and stuff the Kong with that..and freeze.....just reduce normal food allowance to compensate.....sorry to hear of the skin problems....hope it all clears up soon. Just out of interest what IS in the liquid stuff?

On the front of the packet for the bone it says 'fill and freeze with water, broth or juice.' The lady in the shop said to try gravy.
