Last night I had to drive from work to get petrol into the nearby town so decided to walk Dan first in the woodlands just outside the town. Having parked the car in the car park and walked Dan for around 30 mins, I got back to find my car window had been smashed and my handbag taken from under his blankets in the back. There had been no other cars around when I arrived (which is quite unusual as its a very popular dog walking place) so it is assumed that someone watched me put my bag under the blankets....horrible! Such a hassle and I've lost really annoying stuff like my prescription sunglasses and my bag was lovely and a present from my sister. And had to get the window replaced late at night and had no money to get petrol so car is running on thin air!! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I hardly ever walk in those woods either! So just to warn you not to leave anything in your car - even if you think you've hidden it.

Hi Phillipa

Sorry to hear about your awful experience last night ,it couldnt have been very nice to say the least.

I'm afraid it's a sign of the times.Fortunatly for me I carry everything in my pockets most of the time and I don't know what the answer is in a case where you need to have a bag with you.You are just as vunerable if you carry it with you really, especially late at night.

Hope your not too upset by it all.

Oh dear Philippa Sad

What a horrible thing to go through! I'm so carefull about leaving things in my car. if i have to leave it then i make sure there is nothing in there to pinch, or it is locked in the glove box.

Having said that they will try and pinch things like car stereo's etc anyway Evil or Very Mad

Thanks for your kind replies. I do feel better but still very cross! Things keep coming to me - like my driving licence Mad fortunately I had my phone with me as I always carry it on walks. Just have to wait for some new cards now!

Unfortunately I do always have my bag with me as I walk him on my way in and back from work each day so take it with me. Won't now - as you say Kev and Kaye I'll just have the necessaries on me. Although horses, bolting and shutting doors springs to mind! Learnt the hard way sadly Embarassed

What is the bag you have for Bailey? Might be useful for Philippa(or anyone else) seeing as she needs to carry more than on a normal walk.
