Hi,

I have entered two of my dogs in the champ show at Ingilston. I have entered Holden in the Junior dog class and Jessie in the puppy bitch class. This is my first champ show and wondered if anyone has any advice or tips for the big day. It says it is a benched show? stupid question but what type of lead do you use when your dog is benched or is something provided?

If anyone is going what time are you arriving and what time would you suggest I arrive at?

Thanks for any advice as I need it, Laughing

Hi
Benched show means you will have an allocated numbered bench for your dog, where you can put him/her when not in the showring. You will need a bench chain to attach to his collar and some nice bedding for him to lie on. Most labs are benched in this way and usually don't mind it at all though it can be something they need to get used to when they are young. You can always take a folding chair to sit by your dog if you wish.
Some don't like to keep their dogs on the benches, and you will see them taking their dogs around with them or sitting by the ringside. It is personal preference I suppose. You may also see some in soft crates on the benches, I don't do this myself.

Good Luck

My first championship show I was unsure of the benching so took along my own metal crate for safety. I was pretty glad that I did.

If you want to put your dog on the benching with out a crate then take along a chain that can be fastened to a ring..........not too long though. Some people sit by their dogs, but other owners go away and leave their dogs quite content. Rolling Eyes but its personal preference.

Wish you the best of luck btw Very Happy

I will get there one day...

Is it definitely next Saturday?? Do you have to pay to go in (if not got dogs)? Would love to go and see what you all get up to, but I know it always seems to be early in the morning (for me anyway! lol).

Ninjas... where? !
