Have just read this thread and cannot believe the owner of the other dog. How irresponsible. I hope you are all feeling better today.
The other owner really gives dog owners a bad name...it makes me so cross. I know a few german shepherds....my cousin used to help train police dogs nand they are lovely dogs. Often i think people can be quite wary of them because of their size etc. and there reputation as a guarding dog, but with the correct owner they are lovely. This owner is just reinforvcing the stereotype I would definitely report him to dog warden...they may not be able to help but worth a try.
I hope Charlie (and you) have a lovely day today and of course Izzie - what a star!
Best wishes
Shelley

Hi Everyone
Thanks so much for your lovely messages.
Well, Charlie seems much happier this morning - we have just been for a walk at the same field where he was attacked yesterday and whilst for the 1st few minutes he looked a little nervous, as soon as he realised the other dog was not about he was absolutley fine - he met another labrador this morning as well and seemed perfectly fine, slightly more nervous than normal but I think thats understandable!!
He also saw Rosie, my Mums GSD in the garden (we live next door to my parents and share a garden) and once he realised that it was Rosie trotting toward him he was absolutely fine...bless him!
Izzie however is circling round him as is she is trying to protect him - its lovely knowing that they love each other so much!!
I have been able to find out who the man is (we were in a cricket field where my brotherr plays cricket and he knew the dog involved) so I will be ringing the dog warden this morning to report the incident.
Shelly, I completely agree with you regarding GSD's - they are such lovely dogs - and get such bad press, and yes this owner simply let it happen - I know enough about dogs though to know that not all GSD's are like this, I only hope Charlie knows that too!
Again, thanks for all your lovely messages - hopefully the youngster will come away unscathed from his nasty experience.

Hi Sarah
Glad you're all okay. Agree with everything said by everyone else. Penny's is not aggressive in the least, but every if we meet a smaller dog when we're out and she's playing too rough in my opinion I pull her back. I can't believe the idiot just sat there and watched!! Hope your dog warden does take some action.

Hi Sarah
Glad Charlie is happier this morning. Sorry, I obviously didn't read your first post properly as I didn't notice your mum has a GSD. Some dogs are more sensitive then others, but all the early socialisation you did with him will stand him in good stead.
Unfortunately, idiots like the one you met are all too common. There are a few round here who even think it's clever
regards
Jenny

Just read your post Sarah - that's awful. People like that should not be allowed to keep dogs if they can't keep them under control, especially to just ignore what was happening and not even try to call the dog back.
Glad to hear Charlie seems ok today and he's getting along well with Rosie still. Poor little pup, not a nice thing to happen to him. Or for you to experience either.
I always worry about other dogs when they come up to Corbie, as you just don't know what they'll be like. At the vets last week there was another dog at reception while I was paying and it was jumping around and trying to get to Corbie, and Corbie was just standing there watching it
Big hugs to Charlie.

Glad everyone`s ok, had a similar thing happen to my mother some years back with her terrier cross, bout the size of a Westie and attacked by a Rottie!, poor little guy ran all the way home, luckily he was ok too.
I`m glad you reported him to the dog warden, and agree with the others here about the irresponsibility of some dog owners.
