Hello Everyone,
Just wanting some advice please, we are thinking of purchasing a new puppy. We have poppy who has been spayed. I have been told that having another bitch could cause problems i.e. fighting, jealousy etc. so we were thinking of getting a dog. What are your thoughts please.
Thanks
Andrew

hiya

i have 2 females rosze and brandy they get on great even before they were spayed only in the last year were they spayed and rosze is 2 and brandy is nearly 9..

all dogs no matter what there gender can fight ppl have all dogs ppl have all female or mixture of both..

if your dog will not get on with another dog there is nothing you can do about it..

if poppy is great with both then i wouldnt see a problem unless of course poppy does..lol..

Hi Andrew,

Quote:

I was told this too about another breed (guarding). But i don't neccessarily agree with that for our breed, labs and some others.
I have had bitches over to stay for a holiday and i have had no problems with any of them with Lucy. Very Happy

I've kept two bitches together for more years than I care to think! I take great care to make sure there is never any jealousy and that all games finish before they start getting too rough (Remembering that all dog play is mouth play) and have never had a cross word.

I do like to see a reasonable difference in age though, in my case 2 to 3 years. That way there is a natural leader and follower.

Regards, John

I have three bitches (all entire) - two under two years old, and in the main they plod along fine Very Happy

Hally and Clover initially hated each other on sight - but then I think if the Pope had moved in he would have found Clover trying Shocked Confused (and it didn't really help (my fault) that Hally didn't have much puppy experience Embarassed Embarassed

Solo and Clover get along fine without a cross word, although Clover is not gentle, so play is supervised or they are kept separate - Hally and Solo (Hally now fullly puppy acclimatised Wink ) amble along just great Very Happy and Hally and Clover are inseperable Laughing Laughing

It took a fair bit of time and effort, but it came through in the end Very Happy
