Rowley

There is one thing I tell people when they ask me about how I trained Jack, the answer is simple he trained me! I watch his behaviour and the way he interacts with other dogs, in fact we have just adopted another dog, this time a Utonagan, she was brought up using the technique, but sadly her owner had to give her up due to a change in circumstance...life and the transision for her has been so much easier.

One thing though you must do is get out and socialise that puppy, even if it means carrying him until he has had all his injections, take him in the car, over to friends, the first 6 months are so important, he will look to you for your reaction to situations, never say him dont' be afraid always be up beat about things, in particular the dreaded firework night, I actually have a dog who is now excited about fireworks and comes out in the garden to watch, we simply did what we would do with a child, we ooed and arred and made excited noises (neighbours thought we were mental!! lol).

What ever you do never never hit a dog, also always praise the good behaviour as a dog will only remember the last action it completed.

Incidentally Jan Fenells technique is also now on DVD

Anyway good luck

Natalie n Jack
