Also I wonder if all their databases are linked...so as you already have Ruby listed on M&S as a Lab...would other insurance companies be able to see what she was registered before??
Quite possibly they may develop centralised databases as they do with cars, but don't think they have got to that stage yet in the dog world - HOWEVER, if you knowingly incorrectly claim your dog is something it isn't - in addition to the risk that the insurance company many not pay out - you also face the risk of being prosecuted for attempting to defraud them - worth it for £70 over a year - methinks NOT

thats my feeling too - also the worry of 'will the claim be bounced' kind of negates the purpose of having a policy - as a big part of it for me it to remove the cost worry of anything that may happen.
Perhaps its worth making an anonymous enquiry, as even if it wouldn't work for Ruby, there may be other owners who could benefit - not us though, as we've already ticked the 'pedigree' box, and not you I imagine as you'll be doing everything above board with your dallie pup.
Something to consider though.... what would you say she was crossed with? Some cheeky person once asked me if Rosie was part weimeraner cause she's a skinny minny (but doesn't have the ears ) and I vigorously defended her purity. Not that I've ever seen a piece of paper, just have it on good authority from Lab Rescue, which is as good as we're going to get.
I have just insured CD as a labrador. I don't have a pedigree but he looks like a labrador. I am not working but since I had trouble at the vets I wanted to make sure he is safe.
well here in Hull i pay 10.20 ish for sasha as a pedigree with buddies, but only 6.70 ish for pepper being a large cross breed,,, both cover ongoing illnesses ect, (made sure to check for that) so mine is prob cheaper than most
This thread reminds me of when I first got Honey Bear, I had no idea whether she was a purebred lab, let alone KC registered. She is a very dark yellow, so everyone at work (a vet hospital) thought she was a labrador X Golden Retriever. When I rang to insure her, I said that is what it was thought she was, ie a crossbreed. Now on her insurance certificate though, she's listed as a Labrador Retriever with full pedigree premium. So I wonder if they saw on the vet's invoice when I made my first claim that she was a Lab? I certainly never thought to ring up and say that I'd met her breeders and that she's a pedigree, KC registered lab I would say though that they almost definately don't make a distinction between KC or non KC registered, after all, even non KC registered dogs have a Pedigree!
