I'm checking around for insurance for Jet and M&S are quoting £349 which seems much higher than everyone else says they pay. Jet is 14 months old, has only been treated once at the vets but never made a claim, and we are in Guildford, surrey. Does this sound about right?
Interestingly I origianally clicked on the wrong bit and put him down as a crossbreed rather than pedigree, and the quote was £189.........maybe I should fib about his parentge!

Wow, that seems fairly high, although you are nearer London than me, that seems to make things more expensive. Although if you're looking at a £0 excess policy, if you claim, it could work out cheaper. Hopefully of course you won't need to.

I most certainly wouldn't do that - it could backfire when you need the cover Shocked

It does seem that the London & surrounding premiums are somewhat higher than other UK regions - M&S were very competitive last year - but it seems they have priced themselves out of the market for many this time around.

I have just put Solo onto More Than, and have a price for the two older girls which includes a 20% discount for when their current policies expire Very Happy

Direct Line and Tesco are also very competitive Very Happy

Well I've bitten the bullet and insured Jet with M&S. They're certainly not the cheapest but having trawled through just about all of the online quotes, policies, and the like with all their little exclusions and tricky wording, I've decided that I'm better off paying a bit more and having everything covered.
I was totally honest about his pedigree despite what I said earlier. I've gone for the zero excess policy and they even cover flea and worm treaments, so I recon it's swings and roundabouts if I don't have to pay out for those, and there is even £250 worth of cover if he has to be refered to a behaviourist which is something I'm thinking about as he does get a bit growly sometimes with my daughter.
So that's me sorted then!

Interesting point Vicky, we're pretty sure Rosie is pedigree lab but have no evidence of this as she's a rescue.....

I`d be interested to know whether them not being KC registered makes a difference as 2 of mine aren`t. Although on all insurances they ask for the breed and there doesn`t seem to be any category for non KC dogs.

As for your quote and subsequent purchase. I`m with M & S and I have to admit it has almost doubled this year at renewal, but I pay £62 per month for the 3 dogs, it`s £20 for the first dog and £20.50 for the other 2. Not sure how that compares to what you pay, yours does seem quite high. I am also in the Surrey post code and have to pay through the nose for everything. Its not fair.
