Hi guys,
It appears that Bailey (6 months old) isn't too keen on water.
We were away last weekend with some friends and their labs to Abersoch in Wales - Stella and Big Bailey run to the water as soon as we are there.
Bailey junior just stands by the waters edge. This isn't the first time - we hd him to loads of places with water and he won't go near.
The weather at the weekend was lovely and my partner tried to entice him in but he was having none of it - in fact he looked scared.
Does anyone else's lab not like water or do we have a dog with a water phobia?
Cheers

Hi there
Smudgey is a water baby - we took him to Hunstanton and he jumped right into a deep puddle and had a little doggy paddle!
He's even tried to jump in the bath with me! We had a cat that used to walk along the edge of the bath when you were in it - a very nerve wracking experience!
All the best,
Nic

I Have a water baby too in fact i sometimes think he was a fish in a previous life
At the doggy pool we go to they said that 80% of labs love the water and the other 20% hate it so as clair said it isn't uncommon.

When Dan was younger - he's now 8 months - he was very wary about the water and would only tiptoe to the edge. But now.....any scabby old pond or muddy puddle and he's in it! He loves water and swimming. I don't know what happened - I think he saw others going in the water during our training class. Bailey may come to it in time.
As I am posting this he's just come back to my office after someone had taken him off into the garden with them (I take him to work in a private house) - he is like a drowned rat (lab?) but extremely happy. He dived into the pond at the bottom of the garden apparently! Won't be terribly popular if he punctures the lining. Better check the insurance....
We had a cat once that walked along the bath. She fell in once when my husband was in it! I never realised how much a cat looked like a rat when wet!

Dylan is a water baby but Ben hated water, everytime we took him near any when he was younger he would run the other way,he eventually progressed to a gentle paddle, but Dylan jumps straight in without hessitating, and the dirtier the better,
Hi Nic,know Hunstanton well, used to take Ben when we were stationed at RAF MARHAM,
