Hi All,
I'm in Swansea, Wales
I can look after someones baby for a week maybe two at a time..
anyone around my area who can cover for me and casey when we go on hols ?
Jo
I'd be happy to pet sit for you if you need someone to come in once twice a day to feed water and walk.. aslong as you are not too far from brynhyfrd. I have a car but say within 10 miles..
If your little one doesnt tolerate other dogs then I probably couldnt have him stay here but i could certainly help out in another way if you needed it ok..
I use Faraam Court Kennels in Fairwood for Hally, and she loves going there Just considering putting Clover in for the first time pending hoa house move
We have recently found a pet sitter in Pembrokeshire. I know it's a fair drive, but the lady seems really nice and we are going to meet her tomorrow. My mum's dog has seperation anxiety meaning he hates being left, and the lady has said she'll arrange for her/her husband to be with him all the time. So the plan is that Joey (mum's dog) and Leo will go there together in the summer (when we go away to get married).
I have booked Daisy in at the kennels run by Many Tears (Cawdor Kennels). I know how much they love the dogs, so I have do doubts what-so-ever that she will be extremely well cared for and they won't mind that she can be a madam on occassions!
Jo - if you ever need anyone to pop in and let your Casey out/take him for a walk at all then please let me know - I work in Llansamlet so Brynhyfryd is only around the corner. I'd be happy to help.
We are ok at the moment, but the children want to go on holiday to butlins or somewhere and I'm just trying to work out what i can do with the two dogs if we were to consider a holiday.
Sometimes people advertise in the local paper, but I'm scared stiff of handing my dogs over to a stranger whom I dont know even likes dogs, KWIM ? so i dont think i could ever use a service out of the paper and other than that i havent got a clue where to turn,
we pretty much gave up on these type of holidays when we got casey, but the children havent been for a long time and a dog friendly holiday isnt the type of thing they enjoy all the time..
could you give me the contact details of this lady in pembrokeshire,if she wouldnt mind that is, and maybe if i pluck up the courage enough i will give her a ring in the near future..
its so hard having labs ;0) I never worried before because I always owned cross dogs and knew that someone wouldnt go to those lengths to steal the dog or at least it was extremely unlikely, but now.. im worrying *lol*

Just a tad confused - but why would labs be any more at risk if you go away than any other type of dog?
There are some excellent (and reasonably priced) kennels in our area
Not so much that they are labs, more that they are pedigree rather than cross breeds, I've read some horror stories about people advertising in the local paper as a dog sitter and giving false details and keeping the dog.
To some people, pedigrees are worth money.. and cross breeds are not.. so there is a higher risk with pedigrees of theft isnt there.. just more on guard now thats all.
Same as when I leave the dogs out the garden on their own, im always worried that someone will jump over the wall for the pup or something so i keep an eye on them all the time, unfortunetly it happened to a friend of the family,
Yeah im going to look into kennels, my mother said there is one in blackhills, gower that is good, anyone had any experience with them ?

That's who I use - and have done since Hally was a pup (I also worked there for many years but under different ownership to now) so I know the basic kennel set-up well.
Hally loves going in there and they love seeing her - but if you are looking for this summer, you will have to get in early because they are very busy.
There is also one in Bishopston that comes highly recommended - although I haven't had cause to use them.
There are also some I wouldn't touch with a bargepole, but I am not going to name these on a public forum for obvious reasons
