Same happened with ours Louise - never made a single claim ever and ours was increased by over 100 quid. Needless to say, I have voted with my feet and up sticks and left them. As of the 1st May, we will be with Pet Pals. I am more than happy with the coverage and they came recommended to us.

I would call them and quiery the excess certainly. These firms do tend to send out "standard letters" Tell them you have/had no excess before. They may re quote. (hopefully) I may will be changing on renewal if thats the case. The only reason I went with them was for the no excess.

I had a huge increase too and I thought my no excess was taken off but if you look carefully it is still on. By all means call them to be sure but no excess is definitely still on. Even though it has increased quite a bit, I still believe it is good value, they offer a great cover. Wink

Yes, I was fooled by that one too - but I rang to check and the zero excess still applies. Its just not very clear - I think they have done it on purpose to stop people making small claims.

I started a thread moaning about M & S and how my renewal premium had increased (No excess still applied though) a few weeks ago.
Admittedly I did have to make a claim thanks to one little innocent angel deciding that my Sat Nav equipment made a tasty snack Grrrr!!!!

I have however, voted with my feet and now insure both girls for the same money as I would have paid for one with M & S.

Only reason I can think for the large increases is that they were trying to get a bigger slice of the market last year so offered very cheap/reasonable premiums. Now 12 months on they've adjusted them but probably too much as I think they are one of the most expensive now.

If you look at the very end of the last page of the documents, it says somethingg like excess NIL right at the very end. I thought it had gone too, but it hadn't!

me too in the endorsements section it will say excess reduced to Nil.

Rubys cost me £205 zero excess - I spent over £250 last year on niggly little things (UTI, Stone swallowing etc) nothing ever more that £40 per claim soo should my premium last year have been £120 with a £50 excess then overall my expenditure would have been - £370 so my £205 zero excess is a bargain imo Wink

It's not a bargain when it goes up when you haven't claimed at all!! That's what has got me Vicky - not the fact it is good value for worry warts like you and Rubes.
