Hey,
Some of you may remember the litter we had from our girl Chloe in October. We kept on black boy against our better judgement... And he is an angel lol!! Such a sweet boy, so well behaved and quiet and calm in the house. His show training is going well, although sometimes he's a little too laid back lol!! We're working on getting him moving with a little more enthusiasm as he seems to love the "hands on examination" a little too much He just wants to stand and be fussed!!
Anyway, here's our baby. Please feel free to give any opinions from these pictures. He's 5 months and 1 week. He is still very immature but his sister and mother were also very slow maturing so we'll probably just show him very lightly as a puppy until he fills out a bit more. But as i said, i'd really appreciate any comments
These pics aren't great as they were taken on my phone of his playing in the garden with his family.
Ok, feel free to argue, but to my mind I would say:
Nice shoulder, legs and feet. Good bend of stifle without being over angulated. I would prefer a slightly better reach of neck, more defined stop and more weight on him, although the stop could be down to puppyness. Not too long cast, good eye colour and nice length of muzzle. Tail needs snipped at the end, to even it off. Is bum high at the moment, but that will probably change with growing, as they often go through a stage like that if they grow unevenly. This also throws his tail-set off, but again that may come with maturity.
To sum up, very nice and has definite potential. I would expect a deepening of the chest with age, but the makings are there. If it were me, I'd put a bit more wieght on him for the show ring, but other than that he will only improve with time.
Xena - Thank You very much for that He is not a great eater to be honest, so we're having a lot of trouble getting weight on him. He is well covered now, but of course, they do like them a bit fat in the showring so we'll have to see if we can get a bit of weight on him As i said, our last litter too a LONG time to mature, and we're told that the lines on their mums side are very slow maturing so we're hoping he'll do better in the adult classes than maybe he will do in the puppy classes, but i love showing puppies so we'll definately get him out to a few shows!! We've even entered him in a lab club champ show i think!! Should be fun!!
