We are selling our Yaris as we just can't fit Maisie in as well as the 2 kids and OH, so we have narrowed the search down to either a Citroen Berlingo or a Peugeot Partner, both look the same to me (I know nothing!) what are your experiences and any other recommendations, our maximum budget is £6000 and I want something under a 1.6 for cheaper tax.
We have a diesel people carrier and it's fab £50 to fill up but does 600+ miles.
Same here... My Renault Scenic comfortably carries myself, my hubby, two large teenage boys and a couple of largish dogs (three at a push) . Yet round town it does about 45 to the gallon and on my journey to Crufts last weekend I was getting 56 to the gallon (and I wasn't hanging around if you see what I mean ). Most diesels nowdays drive like petrol engines anyway, not like the old days when their acceleration was 0-60 in about a week. .
I would definitely recommend a Diesel, whichever car you choose.
Just one last thing....all French cars have a terrible reputation for breaking down....However I've never had a problem with mine and my sister has had Peugeots for years also with no problems....So either of your choices would be good.

You are not kidding - just done a round trip of 500 miles and have quarter of a tank of fuel left - and that was a mixture of Motorway and country driving
My problem now is I need to get a Turbo Diesel estate as my car is not currently cut out for carrying 3 dogs but finding something to match it is going to be hard
I recently changed to a Peugeot 307 SW 2.0 HDi , it is cheaper on car tax and more economical to run than petrol. Fits 2 Labs in with ease as well as the rest of the family, easy to drive and good acceleration too
I have both diesel and petrol. My petrol is a renault clio 1.4, and my diesel a Citroen Xantia Turbo diesel.
To be honest, i much prefer driving the renault. Much more nippy. Although of course the diesel does get lots more miles in comparison. I use my renault for the dogs, thats the 'dog car' lol.. The other car smells fresh, clean and is completely hair free, and i like keeping that one that way. lol
Sorry, nothing of what i have said is advice. lol... Although i would have to agree that you will save more with diesel

That's my problem at the moment....The Scenic is great for two dogs, but a real squash for three on any long journeys and the driving position is the best I've found for my back problems....
I would love a diesel Volvo estate (loads of dog room) but I can't afford one and I don't know if I'd find it comfortable anyway .
