After the Dyson packing up on Tuesday and having to buy another one, the central heating boiler has now packed up.
The gas man came this morning and it's the fan that's broken which would cost a couple of hundred pounds to fix. BUT the boiler is now obselete and the parts are no longer available so we need a new one plus the pipes need changing and it going to cost between £2000 - £3000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So my new kitchen which we were hoping to get a Easter is now on hold.
I'm not a happy bunny, plus it's freezing cold and snow has been forecast tomorrow!!
Also Ben won't be home for Mother's Day - he's in Jersey in a tennis tournament (won all his matches yesterday and today) and 'm really missing him
The trials of being an adult, with responsibility. Sometimes life sucks. Having a house always leave you broke. Cheer up, things could be worse, material things are always replaceable.
Your son will home really soon, and then you can have a fix and cheer yourself up. Take comfort in some furry hugs, that normally works.
Oh Wendy I really feel for you - I am getting new central heating within the next few weeks, just hope the old system hangs in until then!!
Everytime British Gas come to service my central heating system they keep saying that they can't get parts for my system anymore and that I should get a new system put in. But when it does go wrong - somehow British Gas always manage to find a spare parts
Can't believe its going to cost you that amount to get a new boiler put in and a bit of pipework! Its only costing me just over £3k for a whole new system including radiators, towel rails etc etc etc.
I perscribe a cuddle on the sofa with Charlie and hope you feel happier soon
Know the felling we are also having to have new boiler and the other day I opened the washing machine thinking it had finished and all the water gushed out!!new washer needed. Still you have your beutiful Charlie , I pick my choc lab up in two weeks I can't wait, will post some photos as soon as i can puppy piccies always cheer everyone up don't they
Oh Wendy, sounds like you're having a real day of it
Being cold always makes me grumpy, so that can't be helping much. Have a big glass of something 'medicinal' - that'll take the chill off you!
Will your home insurance not cover the boiler? If not, a minor chip pan fire could see your kitchen replaced by the insurance and you may be able to wangle a boiler at the same time!!! Then again, you don't want the whole house burning down.
Where's charlie? Labby hugs always make me feel better.
Go and put on a few jumpers, pour yourself a brandy (or similar) and stay glued to LF - we'll have you cheered again in no time!
- I sympathise - our central heating broke down about a week after we bought the house - in February in SNOW - we did manage to keep it working by leaving it on high all the time - but it kept pouring boiling water over my kitchen roof which eventually came through it
