Hi,

I'm new to this forum but I'm looking for a black and tan lab pup. I know the coloring is not show quality but I have been looking for one forever. I am on the waiting list with the guide dogs for adoptable puppies. But if anyone has any info on where I could find one I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

-Meredith

As far as I'm aware mismarked pups are just freaks of nature, turning up without any planning, from normal non marked parents. So I doubt you will find anyone breeding them. Wink

My OH's dog is black and tan. He's a Labrador X collie. He's lovely, with the lovely nature of a labrador and the energy and stamina of a collie. Hope you find the pup your looking for ! xx

Hello and welcome to LF Very Happy

I also, like the other members who've posted, have never come across a black and tan labrador - I have seen piccies of mismarked pups as Jules has described, but these are very very very rare. Is it definitely a labrador that you are after, there are other breeds that are standard black and tan.. or could it be that you have encountered a black and tan labrador cross before?

When you say you are on the waiting list for guide dogs, is this because you need a guide dog, or is it that you are waiting for one of their "rejects" (sorry cant think of another word)?

Murphy, the Dogs for the Disabled dog that was in the final 6 of the 'Friends for Life' competition at Crufts this year, is slighty brindled, but he is a labXgoldie and was originally breed for GDBA in Ireland (I think I'm right in saying!)I know that the DftD person who collected him as a pup was quite surprised by his colouring but apparently there is a strain of GDBA pups from their labxgoldies that do sometimes turn out brindle pups. Murphy looks much more lab than Golden Retreiver - I wonder if this is what you mean?
