I can't believe there are such evil b******s around.

If this information is known, is there nothing that can be done?? Are the police doing anything??

I'm slap bang in the middle of where these thefts are happening Sad

Every week the local paper carries more stories of these horrendous crimes, and the poor owners who are left wondering what's happened to their beloved dogs.

It is mainly labs that are being stolen - some for fighting (in one sick case the dog's body was thrown back over the owners fence Evil or Very Mad Crying or Very sad ), others for selling on. There were 4 or 5 stolen from a working kennel (the theives attached a chain to the side of the kennel, tied it to their car and drove away to break in, then stole all the dogs). They are beleived to have been sold on, possibly on the continent, as they are worth much more trained.

Needless to say OH and I are paranoid about not leaving Boomer in the car and our security at home. We also always walk her together at the moment.

As I've mentioned in another post, 2 MPs are on the case, and I have written to one who is looking at what can be done locally.

Please be extra-security minded wherever you live. Although these theives are 'fixed' at the moment, if it gets difficult for them to 'work' around here there would be enough profit elsewhere for them to move around.

Very interesting reading, and frighteningly relevant Confused I'm glad it's making national news.

I will be contacting my MP again soon and asking what he plans to do next.

I'm not suprised they're blaming travellers, although have to say they normally descend on Newbury en masse in the summer, cause chaos for a week, then disappear off again. I can't help thinking it's an organised gang who are more local.
