I'm just curious.
It seems from alot of posts that several of us that have labs, have horses too, and it got me wondering.
So if you do keep horses too, what breed do you have?

I did for years but due to problems with my spine I haven't got a horse anymore Sad .

I had a Cob called Murphy.... He was a bit of a lummox and was forever getting himself in trouble, he was also the sort that if you gave him an inch he took ten miles...little bugger...I loved him to bits though, even though he *dropped* me on numerous occasions. Rolling Eyes Laughing

My sister has a stable yard where she has 15 horses, mostly hers or her daughters (she's a showjumper), so whenever I need a horse fix I go there and get thoroughly horsey smelling Laughing (I've been today and am sniffing my clothes as I type Laughing ). I still long to swing my leg over a saddle again, but I've been advised not to, so for now I'm being good....I can't promise to be good forever though. Wink

I used to have 2 showjumpers - Mac aka 'The Dude' who I competed in pony affiliated classes and Bertie who I broke in and went on to compete in Grade B classes.

Needless to say, I hit 16/17, boys & socialising were suddenly very interesting and the horses didn't seem quite so exciting anymore. I kick myself every day for giving it up Sad

Mac went to live with a lovely lady in Staffordshire who used to gallop him round the countryside and he shares his stable with his 2 mates, a goat and a chicken. Laughing We still get Christmas cards from them Wink He'll be there until he passes away Wink

Bertie went to a young lad who carried on his showjumping, but I think he's now retired, and living out his days in quiet luxury. Very Happy

When I win the lottery..... Wink

I first went on a pony aged two, and started riding properly when I was six until I was 12.

My parents bought me a Welsh Mountain (section A) pony for my 10th birthday - he was bay with a white star on his forehead and called Bobby Breeze. I had him until I was 12 (outgrew him unfortunately).

Before that I used to ride various ponies/horses at the stables and would spend my holidays there. I've got several rosettes and my best haul at a show was a 1st and two 2nds Laughing

I always wanted to be a showjumper, there were some gorgeous showjumpers at the stables I went to. Then when my pony was sold, I didn't want to ride again.

My pony was a mischief though - does anyone remember the Thelwell ponies cartoons? Well, he was like that Laughing

I'd love to try it again one day.. maybe.
