Hello everyone, my name is Geraint and this is my first "entry" on the forum. I just wanted to introduce my newest member of my family - Harry! He is a one year old chocolate lab who we got from the LRRSE. He's a bit wilful, not very good on the lead and seems to have issues with cyclists, lorries and people - when he's on the lead. Apparently he had never been on a walk before he came to us and had never been socialized. He's getting plenty of tough love now that he's settled in, but I would be very grateful for any hints and tips. Thats all for now. Thanks for listening!!
I have a rescue GR who has probs on lead with paper/post delivery peep, buses and other dogs on lead, we are heading for situations where these issues are happening and I have a gentle leader on him, not that he pulls it is just so I have more head control when we meet these situations.
We started in earnest last week going out when the paper girl is about, when other dogs who's owners don't mind us using them for practice are about.
Armed with really smelly treats and we are out for about half an hour, then he gets an off lead run to chill for 10 mins before we head home.
He then goes out with his lab sis for a lovley off lead run later so he is not too over loaded with stressy issues
Ironically off lead he is fab and shows no isues what so ever but his issues have occured in his last home before he went to rescue where he was tied up and abused
