awwwww fabulous new - hurrah for insurance indeed!!!! In Rubys first year the premium cost me £127 and I claimed about £180 and that was just for the puppy usuals nothing major at all - insurance is definitley a must in my book. It takes away the financial worry when your dog is poorly I got out a new credit card when I got Ruby and I keep that for vets fees only then that way I dont have to find the money at all - and M&S are really good and have always got it back to me before my bill is due to be paid.
Sooo glad he is back to health again

Aw that's really good news for you and Perro. I'm insured with Healthy Pets whohave always been excellent. I haven't claimed from them myself, but my Mum has used them with our cat.
I wouldn't have hundreds let alone thousands to pay the vet if anything happened to one of the animals. However, our vets are lovely and i think they would accept payment direct through the insurers if anything big happened to the animals. Let's hope it never comes to that though, eh?

To Alyson and Bassi-Babes:
I have an account with my regular vet which can give me two months leeway for big bills. But that was no good for the specialist.
The specialist I delt with gave me a choice of two operations (the cheap one or the expensive one) and explained that he only dealt direct with insurers under special circumstances. I wasn't a special circumstance.
Anyway, hopefully it's all now over and done with.
Thanks for the good wishes folks.

Hi everyone,
Whilst on the subject of direct line, Honey my 15 month old lab is insured with them. She may have hip displaysia (we've only had her 2 weeks) we are just waiting on a visit to the vets on tuesday and possibly x-rays the week after if her hip/leg is no better, just wondered if anyone else out there had put a claim in with Direct line for hip dysplasia and how they were etc???
