Hi ,we had a very lazy afternoon yesterday, you know one of those weekends "yeah we will clean the house top to bottom"well that never happened! I had brought Barley to the local shopping centre to do the stairs and lifts and have coffee! So I was glad to be chilling out on the coach.
Margaret or Baggit as I call her wanted a beach walk set her right for the week ahead, grand so off we went.
Shadow ,Barley,Aoife our Daughter.
It was one of those days that you know its going to lash rain but your going to squeeze another half hour out of the day!
Any way Baggit and Aoife were deep in conversation,I was having races with the dogs.Out of no where this guy appears over a small sand dunne screaming and shouting abuse.I was thinking this guy has mistaken us for someone else or is just a lunatic, turned out to be the latter.
He started towards us I decided "exite stage left, while telling the girls to walk away from him.
The lads mean while had found the remains of a swan and were expertly deciding what the cause of death was.
You all know they get somthing into their head and no calling them will get them away untill they were satisfied .
This fella is still screaming abuse ,the dogs are ignoring him completly, then I realised that the sod was heading for the dogs and not us! As I started back he got to them and got Shadow a boot that made me sick! Barley was a bit quicker and dodged his attempt at him.
Of course was only delighted to find Daddy calling him.Shadow was totally shocked and was wondering where to go.
The guy continued after Shadow,Shadow seemed winded,As I was putting Barley on the lead, the guy what can I say but the abuse he was throwing was in a league of its own, there is a point where the good responible dog owner gets put on the back boiler, especially where family are concerned.
Aoife was so scared that I was going to get hit,no matter what I siad to find out what his problem was he kept going. It was only when Baggit (Margaret) siad she was going to ring the Garda (police ) that he seemed to tune back in. He calmed down a bit but continued with his foul mouthed crap !At this stage I had got both dogs who were looking very confused about the whole incident back on the leads.
I was fuming about the whole incident. In his ten years with me Shadow has never shown any aggression to anyone.Poor sod.
A woman who had been watching this came over to us afterwards and told us she had seen a simular incident with the same guy she thinks!!
The only difference was the last person floored him.
I was tempted but the last thing I wanted to do was show aggression with my daughter and wife looking on,and then what would my lads Shadow and Barley think of that? It is a many a year ago that I allowed someone to winde me up like that.Poor aul Shadow was glued to us for the night,he has been checked out and seems fine now.I am kinda sorry I did not lay him out the swine,I still dont know what his actual problem was and why we seemed to be the object of his hate, seems a bit strong but thats what it was.Sad to think we were walking messing with the dogs and that had to happen,it would be different if they attacked him..Some people !!! This is Shadow the subject of that swines hate/temper???
The more I think of it ! The bloody cheek of some people.I was not going to bother ,but I am going to report this to the Garda. If it happens again at least there will be a record of it and that this guy has some kind of problem !!!! Yes one kick but the abuse we had to put up with, I' off to the station to report him.
Sorry, mails crossed, I think you are right to report it, the Garda will then be able to build a picture that may mean that they get this guy off the streets and the help that he clearly needs!
So sorry to hear you had this terrible experience.
Poor sweet Shadow, so glad he seems to have recovered and shown no after affects of such horrible treatment.
I would definitely report the incident to the Police. As you say if it happens again at least there will be a record of it. I don't know how you managed to keep your cool and not deck the b*&%#@d.
Hope you and your family are all doing better today and can put this behind you. Give Shadow a big hug from me
What a horrible experience, your right to report it to the police, the next persons dog he may attack may not be able to rescue it like you did Shadow, spoecially if its an elderly or disabled person.
I would be surprised if the Garda havn`t already heard of this man, he sounds like he`s caused trouble more than once.
Hi thanks for the response,I have just been to the Garda and as it turns out the lady who we met yesterday had siad that it has happened before reported it last night .Which is a good thing because two people have had a problem with him,the Garda seemed think that he has heard mention of this carry on before but would look into it!
Well I am glad I did not loose the rag and flatten him,
I am better for it.
I owe that elderly woman a bonio for her dog.
Shadow says thanks for the Hugs!!
Well done to the lady who also reproted it, always good to have witnessess to these things I think, I do hope the Garda you spoke to does look into it and it wasn`t just words to placate you.
