I currently have Fidgit insured through M & S which last year seemed a little more expensive than some companies.

Today I have received the renewal notice and find that my premium has gone up from £15 p/month to nearly £21.00 Sad I have taken the nil excess option but thats still a huge increase.

We did make a claim last year (thanks to some one who shall remain nameless) as my Sat Nav equipment got eaten Shocked Shocked
But thats still a huge increase.

I've looked round for alternaive quotes and can get it cheaper but they will only cover a condition for up tp a year, whereas M & S although expensive will cover that condition for life.

Can anyone else recommend another company that offers this?

If we get Crumpet this is only going to push this premium even higher, especially with her existing problems Sad

Lesley

On renewal my M&S went up from £9-something to £13-something - nearly a 40% increase which I was not very happy about....

BUT it was still the best value cover after looking into others. I do pay a £50 excess on mine though, but have never claimed.

Eeek - just did a quote for puppy coming in as an only dog and the premium was the same for him as what I am paying for both girls now Sad are they trying to discourage pet insurance - will be interested to see what my renewal premium is for the girls when it is due Sad - particularly as I have never made a claim Shocked

Mine all doubled at renewal, but I looked around and couldn`t find anything that was anywhere near as good. If you have the nil excess option, which I do, you have to consider when shopping around, what the premium would be once you add on the extra excess, some companies ask for £50-80.

When you work that out per condition, then M & S doesn`t seem so bad. I know you might argue, that you may never use the insurance, but what if................................ your worse nightmare happens and you need to claim.

Rubys went up in November from £127 - £205 we had claimed but not a huge amount. M&S offered the best cover I could find and even at the higher price it is fab value. M&S were trying to gain market share last year by having such low premiums I bet. I just hope that it doesnt go up again next year as much then they will price themselves out of the market

M&S insurance - fabulous!!!!

Ours has gone up from £121 to £200 but we claimed all £7000 with no probs. We didn't have to pay a penny as it was no excess and the vet claimed direct.

I would definitely recommend them

Ok well I have used Pet Pals for years now, changed from Dog Breeders Insurance which asked silly money after a few years.

The Standard policy is £13.29 a month and they cover any condition up to £3000 PER year, so each illness can go on forever and a day but only £3000 a year can be claimed. Sure enough one in a thousand dogs will need more than £3000 a YEAR per illness (not just per dog so they could have two different things and each would get £3000 a year - show me a vet that can't come up with two problems to claim for to get round if it was dire...)

Puppy price if the pup is stolen or strays, £300 towards advertising and reward money, £300 if you have to cancel a holiday if your pet is ill, £1million third party.

£40 excess.

I've found them superb, they pay direct to the vets so don't have to fork out a penny until your £40 excess when they settle the bill and they are quick with claim forms and stuff and I have claimed for silly stuff on all my dogs and the premium doesn't seem to go up more than a few pence a year - looked up - Mallie - started at £11.50 four years ago, claimed three times and her policy is now £14.39.

www.petpalsdirect.co.uk and they are part of Domestic and General.
