This is so shocking to read.

I cannot understand what drives a person to do this, to me it shows such a huge sign of weakness - it's pathetic.

The poor dog and boy - goodness knows what he is capable of doing to the boy also if he has done this to a dog....

I think that if I had been there I too would have intervened, it makes me sick to the core Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Just read this update on BBC to the story:

Man arrested over spaniel attack
A man has been arrested in Edinburgh in connection with an incident in the north of the city in which a dog was attacked.

A 28-year-old man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 29 March.

Police received calls on Tuesday from passers-by reporting a dog was being beaten on Edinburgh's Marine Drive.

The dog is now being cared for by the SSPCA after being checked by vets. A report is being sent to the procurator fiscal.

Lothian and Borders Police said the arrest was a direct result of Wednesday's media appeal by the force.
