Well done Lucie for getting through it. You are not alone with dental phobia. I remember to a few years back. I did not mind going to the dentist for check-ups because we had a great guy..called Mr Renfrew and he was so gentle.....he talked you through everything he was going to do and it certainly helped you to relax. Then he had to go and retire and the practice after that went private. So we had to find another N.H.S one which proved very hard because no-one was taking on new patients. Any way 2 years went by, and my fear of dentists began to grow again with the thought of not finding one as good as the one we had. My phobia got so bad one time I remember collapsing in the reception area and had to get taken up to the hospital. I was kept there for 3 hours until they were happy enough with me.
Then by chance one of my kids needed emergency treatment at the local dental hospital and they told us of a practice 10 miles away that was taking on some new N.H.S patients. I tell you now,.......I have never moved so fast to register the whole family, and we have been with them ever since.
My oh never seemed to understand the problems that I had and kept telling me to relax. My eldest son on the other hand is so relaxed, he drums his fingers in the dentist, he is so laid back... he could almost be vertical.
