About the long walks thing...I was thinking long term! Of course, a puppy would probably fall asleep in the middle of a long walk! Not to mention that labs can suffer hip/elbow displacia so building them up gently is crutial. I wouldn't want to over work him as a puppy and increase his chances of joint problems as an adult...I've done my research Wink and still continuing! I want to know everything about the breed, and everything about dog care in general.

I know only too well about a puppys' seemingly boundless energy, then all of a sudden they collapse in a sleepy heap! A couple of summers ago my friends' German Shorthaired Pointer had a beautiful litter (6/7 girls and one boy!) and I socialised with the puppies. One minute it seemed like they would not stop leaping all over each other and pestering the humans for play and thier mum for milk, and the next second they would all fall asleep at exactly the same time! Sorry, I totally went off on a tangent! I think I might have to cough up and pay to join, its nice to talk to other dog lovers, I think I am boring my friends and boyfriend to death as it's all I ever talk about! Though the boyfriend insists he doesn't mind...

Thanks for reading my rambling!

Hi and welcome to LF! Very Happy
Quote:
then at uni, which is usually a pretty light timetable compared to full time work

If your Teacher training is going to be anything like mine was then the only thing I did (literally) was work and sleep, occasionally I threw some food down my neck.
I wasn't on a full timetable but every second of the day (and sometimes the night) was taken up with additional work from uni. The course was a real slog and I was constantly up to my eyeballs in work for one thing or another. I didn't do Science so the course might be different for you but I certainly wouldn't under estimate the work load that you may be faced with.
I am only talking from my own experiences but there was no way I had time to do anything and when I HAD to socialise it was expected and I couldn't say no.

Best of luck x
