Lea it is lamb tonight! I don't like lamb anyway so no worries about me going off it!!!
I know when I was little my grandpa used to have chickens out the back and I saw one of them getting it one day, I do not remember this atall but my uncle always laughs about it because I refused to eat any chicken for months afterwards. Yes i did think that myself last night lea about the checks been a bit more thourough and to the fore than ussual seen as it was on tv!
I would hope that if it is law then all abbatoirs have the same standards but not naive enough to think corners don't ever get cut here and there.

I watched the cow one last night and cried like a baby, it was awful, but very quick, like my OH says, well how did you expect it to happen, but it was nasty watching it. Dont think i can watch the lamb one tonight, but if i dont am i being two faced by eating meat

I was on a training course a while ago with several visiting senior officials from West African countries. The hunting debate was then at its height and these guys were absolutely mystified as to how any parliament could preoccupy itself with such an issue when there were so many other things of concern to be addressed. Not least how far we have to go with the Fairtrade agenda.
I shared their views on the hunting debate, albeit for rather different reasons. But have often since reflected on how our considerable wealth and prosperity enables us to be so sentimental about animals being used for the purpose for which they were domesticated. Whilst I'm delighted that there have been such strides in animal welfare/improved husbandry in recent years I really can't understand why people are shocked when a cow gets turned into cuts of beef. What else would we do with them?
Am so with Gordon Ramsay and the River cottage chap - dignify them, by turning them into something really tasty!!
