I have recently become a new Labrador owner. I found my chocolate Labrador on 21st Feb, he was running around and looked frightened. I managed to coax him to me and walked him to my mother in laws nearby. She has a chocolate Labrador (Lucy) and I thought she might recognise him from the local area. Sadly she didn't, we contacted the dog warden, who scanned him and found his identichip number. Great, I thought he would been reunited soon with his owners once the dog warden had contacted them, although his address given was Bradford and here he was in Warrington!
I rang the kennels the next day and it transpired that the address details belonged to the breeder and sadly she didn't have records as to who had bought him. I rang every day to see if anyone had claimed him, I informed all the local vets, the police, LostLab website and posted on a national veterinary nursing website (I'm a vet nurse) for the nurses to check their lost dog details in case he was stolen/missing from another area in the UK.
Sadly this provided no new leads. After discussion with my husband we decided to adopt him as soon as he became available from the dogs home. I've since found out from the microchip database that he is 7 years old.
He is settling in well, and has a fabulous temperament and a very calm nature. I've no idea where my mystery dog came from but he will be loved and very well loooked after.
Here's some photos of Bomber:
