There was absolutely NO reason for those dogs to be as obese as they were, apart from the dippy owners over-feeding/under exercising them. I can see that some dogs have larger frames than others, but even large boned show Labs should NOT weigh over 9 stone.
What I really didn't understand was why the person to leave the show, was the one who's dog put ON weight.....Surely this person needed MOST help. Poor woman had managed to kill 4 Labs before by over-feeding them and it was looking likely that she was going to do it again. This woman was desperate...she really needed to be shown the way, as she obviously was completely clueless, but loved her Lab more than anything else.
As for the silly arrogant cow with the yellow Lab (which in the intro was called a Golden Lab ), well if I'd been close enough I would have cheerfully slapped her.
So glad that the BC and his owner showed up all the others though.....Just goes to prove that if you do stick with the plan it does work.
After watching that programme...why the vet is worried about alfie I don't know....We then went on to watch the woman who lost 30 stone....
cupboards are being cleared of crap today and alfie and I are going for a long walk again...(I know she was american but....yuk....diet starts today)
I did see the guy with BC on gmtv and they both had lost alot of weight and looked great....hope for me yet!!!
Cheers
Keren and Alfie...
Quite ashamed to see lady with lab was from Nottingham...and she had lost 4 labs before through bad diet!!!
Ohh Elle....Even at Cassies heaviest, she would still have looked anorexic against the two Labs on that programme....Goodness only knows what these people would think of my 27kg Mojo...they would probably think I'm a heartless cow who starves my dog.

I actually felt really sorry for her....she knew she HAD to do something but didn't have a clue as to what. I thought she out of all of them, needed most help...but they kicked her off the programme, which didn't make sense to me at all.
I do hope that there is some follow-up behind the scenes for the lady who was chucked off the show, as she simply hasn't a clue how to feed a dog. Why I don't know. It isn't difficult to pick a good quality dog food and stick to reasonable proportions. Maybe, like the others, she is just too soft and gives in to the doe-eyed look we all know so well .from our own labs too often. I do agree with you, Jules, as those are the people who could do with more help.
As for that silly woman with the yellow lab who thought feeding her dog the occasional bone meant allowing it to have an entire joint of meat, she made me want to throw something at the television. She then wondered why her pet had gained weight and wanted to blame the vet, when she was making up her own rules really.
I am by no means perfect, but our vet told me only last week that physically at least, Charlie is in very good condition and his weight is now spot on. It seems I have my two dogs' diets under better control than my own, as I personally tip the scales far too heavy. Making mental note now to try and watch own diet alongside the dogs' diets. I do walk for several miles most days with the dogs though, and none of us has any problem with it.
Part of the problem was that some of these people seemed to know what they were doing, but admitted that they couldn't seem to stop themselves.
