I missed this thread Wendy..so glad it went well for you and Charlie. If you dont mind me asking, was it expensive, i think we may need to do something like that with Brodie and Jake once Ebony has finished her season if they keep fightening.

We have a long line, i think i got that from PaH, its a God send.

Denise it cost £35. She was here about 1 1/2 hours. The first 15 mins were talking about issues we have with him and she explained the best way forward and why. We then went to the park to do the actual practical training.
When we got back she tried Charlie with a halti as she feels he is pulling too much (he's better than he was). He didn't like it to start with but soon got used to it and walked much better. We just walked round our road a bit.

I was also given some handout sheets with everything on that we did.

Well worth it I think Denise

Glad today went well for you both, you already sound more confident. It sounds like she was really good.

Wonderful Wendy, so glad it worked out so well for you. Just caught up with your post. We did the same for Kyra a few weeks ago and I think a 1 :1 is the best thing ever. I swear by the long line too. I used to have one but never knew how to use it and never used it before the 1:1. In only one session Kyra changed completely, I was amazed, it was like magic. We walked in the open field and keep on changing direction when Kyra is not looking, then as soon as she catches up we call her saying Good girl with me and reward her with a treat., This makes her alert and keep an eye on where we are all the time. we walked her where other dogs were and just said the words With me and she left them and came back to us. This is going to carry on for a few months until she is 100% on recall even when not on the long line. I am so glad we decided to have a 1:1 and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is having difficulties in any area of training as it is so quick and cost effective. We are also going back to training classes and Kyra has come on heaps and bounds since then.
Sorry for the long post just wanted to contribute and share my experience too and hoefully inspire others... Wink
