Awwwww... I'm in no way flexible enough nowdays to do Pole Dancing either...
I think you should look up Belly Dancing....We have all sorts of shapes, sizes and ages in our class and we all have a great time. It's a good workout too, not only do you get to use muscles you didn't know you have, but it really gets the ol' ticker going too.
The best bit is, that the most successful Belly Dancers are not the skinny, toned size 8's; our teacher is more or less my size and her second in command is at least a size 18....but they are super sexy women and when they start dancing....WOW can they move!!!
I have felt very conspicuous in other Aerobics/dance type classes, not being the perfect 10....but here everyone fits in, even me.
You're very brave for trying Tracey - I did a dance class a few years back & I honestly have never felt so embarrased!!

You know I would love to keep trying, but to be honest I was watching the teacher when I was attempting my moves and she didn't really have much interest in showing me how to perfect the move if you know what I mean - she was more interested in looking at the other teacher and her half of the class!
She was lovely and all that, but I would feel more confident if I had faith in the teacher wanting me to be able to 'get it right'. She seemed a bit too good at saying, ' you are doing really well'. I felt like saying to her, 'come on, are you seriously looking at how bad I am. I look about as sexy as Nora Batty with her stockings!!'
I am not very strong at the moment either, so it was really difficult when we had to a pose that involved holding your bodyweight on the pole and putting one leg out straight then the other leg over the straight one - I ended up looking like a pile of limp spaghetti!!
