Hi I am a brand new chocolate labrador mum. You know the type, up at 5.00am running around with scatty Callie til now 9.00am, now she's fast asleep in her crate with the door open, the same crate I've been putting her in to sleep at night, but the difference is she cries the place down for most of the night. But she is absolutely beautiful. Slightly worried as next week I have to leave her to go to work only for 2.5 hours in the morning then 2.5 hours in early afternoon then my husband and son are home from 14.35 onwards, but I can't help worrying, to be honest I really don't want to leave her.
Have you done trial leaving yet, slowly building up the length of time you are away. I started by leaving Boo for 10 mins, then 20min and so on. Dont make a fuss of Callie when you leave, make it as though its the most normal thing to happen. Good luck.
I am Mum to a Choccie girl too, although mine has just turned 6 months. The time goes so quickly, so make the most of it and take LOTS of photos and SHARE with us
They very quickly adjust to your daily routine but i would definately do a few trial runs by building up the time she is left.
Enjoy her while shes little as they grow up far too quickly !!
My girl starts crying around 7am to get up, but today I made her lie in til 8.30am She cried til about 7.30 but fell back asleep, allowing me an extra hours sleep! Bliss! If I were you I'd do the same and just let her cry if you don't want 5am an every day routine! I am hoping my Ruby doesn't start wanting to get up at 5am *touch wood* But every morning I find she has her first little nap after a play and some training That's when mummy takes a nap too
Like you I'm worried about leaving her when I go back to work next week, she will be alone for about 2 or 3 hours in the middle of the day, but I don't want to leave her at all!
Hi RAS, welcome to you and Callie, try not to get up to her as soon she she cries, she`ll gte used to make a noise = I get attention, and you`ll never break her habit.
Maybe set your alarm for around 3/4 am, let her out to do her stuff, back to bed (praise her if she performs) and you go back to bed, no intereaction/play etc.
She`ll get it eventually that night time is for sleeping, you could also try putting an old t shirt of yours or one of the family so Callie has your scent at night
Like the others have said, do trial runs of leaving her and build up the time, don`t make a big thing of it when you go, or when you come back
