Hi
Ok time now 21.17 just got off the phone to katherine the vet who looked at her about a month ago . We had to wait for some test results from the USA and got them back where late this afternoon I had to collect pepsi back from the vets from dropping her off this morning all madness today and only after the call did I think to put it on here , but didn't want to keep putting little posts on til I knew what was going on .
I have been told Pepsi has Exercise induced collaspe and with her Heart condition DCM this would explain all the bad coughing / panting and collasping episodes . Finally I know . Just in the middle of sorting out her medications but with the DCM heart tablets we have to be careful what else we give her . The hot weather is going to be hard thats when she collasped the most last year so I 'm just going to leave her alone now no more tests no more vets expect once a month for her heart check up and let her live her life to the fullest . Lets hope I have a few more years with her now . I ve been told I could have her for another 3 years max . So I'll try and prove them wrong .Has Anyone on here dogs have DCM OR EIC ????????? would help to have someone who know about it .

Sorry it's not a better prognosis but I applaud you for making the decision to let Pepsi live her life to the full without too much intervention, I'm sure she will continue to have a great time with you and watching the vid earlier it is hard to believe she has anything wrong.

We will continue to be here for when you need us most

I don`t have any experience of this, but am desparately sorry to hear the news. I`m sure that with the love and care you will give her, she will leave longer than 3 years, here`s hoping and keeping my fingers crossed.

Sending love and hugs your way.

hi there, havent got any experience of it i am afraid but just wanted to say, i am glad that you have finally found out what her condition is so now you can enjoy her and know what things you can do to limit her from having an episode.

My cat has recently been diagnosed with hypertophic cardiomyopathy and is on daily medication and we have to try and stop him over exerting himself which is hard work in itself when he loves nothing better than terrorising the dogs!

Unfortunately this leaves us both in the same boat with a time scale looming but i think it makes time with them extra special Crying or Very sad

Willowsmum sorry to hear your poor cat has the same heart condition as pepsi but in feline form . Yes it's hard trying to keep Pepsi calm but heh she is a loopy Chocolate lab . And yes knowing the time scale is hard to take in but if I hadn't gone in last april she wouldn't be here now ( was told that today ) so I ll do my best to keep my chin up be grateful I have a faithful and loyal friend who loves me no matter what I look like or say . she brighten s up my day and hope that she knows she is loved so much from Me My OH rose and george .

Clairecrazy .
Yes very difficult watching Pepsi in a collaspe and watching her trying to work out what the hell happen when she comes round but I ve worked out that all i need to do is lie with her close til she comes round . Good to know that the other dog went past the 3 years there hope for her then .
Thank you
