Posted: Tue Feb 27, 2007 5:23 pm Post subject: My labrador is poorly....
We have been up all night with her, 2am, 4am, 5am, 6:30, 7am and 9am she is now just sicking up spit as there isnt even any bile left!
Me and my partner have just got back from vets. No Pippa! I went through everything with the vet, the galastop we are giving her for her phantom pregnancy, the drinking the pond water on sunday and the bones she had yesterday (from pet shop) and gave him a run down of her meals and the times of vomiting and everything.
As he examined her she threw up all over vet table, yellow liquid!
The vet was very worried at the length of time she has been sick. He said she was dangerously de-hydrated and her temp was really high, he also said she seems 'distant' like spaced out.
He has kept her in, he is doing an x-ray, to make sure there are no blockages, and putting a drip in her to get fluid straight in and some sickness meds.
He said to ring at 6pm and see how she is, hopefully there is no blockages and its just gastro(enturightus? bad spelling ), however if it is a bug then chances are our molly could get it, i hope not!
Im so upset, her little face, she could hardly stand! the fur on her feet was stained bright yellow from standing in the sick on the vet table.
Im so upset
____________ As they play with new friends they pause to think of you, happy thoughts & memories.
They are patient because they know soon they will see you again, however until then rainbow bridge is their happy home. All my love to my pets waiting for me x
Hope the vet is able to put her right very soon. If it is gastro-enteritis then maybe it will respond to antibiotics? If it is a blockage then I hope they either find it, or she manages to deal with it soon. I don't know, but hopefully she will feel a bit better soon with some IV fluids going in now.
Poor Pippa - sounds like she's really having a bad time of it. No wonder you're so upset - its terrible to see them really ill. I hope when you phone the vets at six, that she's doing better. Hopefully the fluids and anti sickness meds will help to make her feel better and more comfortable. One of my dogs once drank pond water and it made him terribly ill, it caused a severe case of gastroenteritis.
Let us know how Pippa is doing after you've spoken to your vet. Sending lots of love & healing vibes.
