" Is the dentition issue hereditary? I thought it wasn't "
It usually is. Its not just a fluke, it has commonly be found to travel down lines. There is no set inheritence pattern discovered yet though because here we do not have a big issue with it.... thankfully
The fact is can usually be hereditary is why, to be frank, some of mainland Europe and all the USA tend to have this issue on their 'important list'.
Funnily enough hotly debating it on US lists probably once a year throws up that yes Uk lines tend to have more missing premolars because we aren't concerned about it as an issue so never breed with it remotely in account, however if you believed the idea that it would get worse and worse over time, over generations, which can be the only reason to penalise it as missing just one or two premolars does the dog NO HARM (nor a bird, whatever anyone tells you) you would be sorely dissappointed as there are few toothless Uk dogs in the ring
It does seem that dogs follow one or other parent. If the parent misses one or two premolars the offspring often will. However it doesn't get worse and worse with three next generation, and four gone the next - you know! As those who count teeth would have us believe...

Ohhhhh ..... sorry you had such a rough weekend of it Nicola. What a pants couple of days. You're trying so hard too - don't give up, try to keep on enjoying yourself and sod the stupid Frenchie judges who can't see a gorgeous pup when it's right under their noses. Do it for you, not them.
Now I'm out of my latest work nightmare I feel up to tackling the forms for the Limoges show ... on my To Do list for this weekend. You know I'm taking Asha along as a non-competer for the socilisation experience - she's a little love and shouldn't be any trouble (will probably be hiding under my coat most of the time . Can I help with Coco at all?
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!! Can't help with the experienced dog though, soz. Compared with Asha's non-experience of showing your two are champ dogs - perhaps our utter novice-ness will help boost your confidence
Thanks Cally. Try entereing online is it so much easier! www.cedia.fr . If you can't manage if you send me the details or give me a call I can do it for you.
Thanks for the offer with Coco - she is such a bitch I would not want her getting near Asha and upsetting her more!
Beware too once youa rein teh shwo with your dog there is no escape until about 17.30 unless you pay a bl@@dy fine!
pmsl That's so bl***y French! Ta for the warning, and offers of assistance with the forms - will let you know!
Shame 'bout Coco, but I understand. Might actually do Ashpants the world of good to be around her, but perhaps more reasonable on her to tackle one thing at a time. She will be pretty freaked by the show at first.
... off to dust of French dog-speak Phrase book ....
Sorry to hear the w/e didn`t go as well as you hoped Nicola, don`t let it get you down tho, experience will come with time and Blue is still very young
