Hello everyone
I'm sorry if this has been covered, but I've been browsing for ages and can't find anything about it.
My daughter has just tried to add her new pup Ella to her insurance, she already has her spaniel and 2 cats covered, but they have told her that they will not include hip dysplasia in the cover for a lab.
I've tried the quote thing through most of the insurers listed here and none of them actually say this.
Has anyone else been told their insurance has this exclusion?
No I have not heard of this but interestingly it was raisied in a chat i had with someone a while back asking if HD is such a well known problem in our breed how come insuarnce companies still cover it...
... so seems some are starting not to. It doesn't suprize me. How very sad this news is.

Oh thanks for your reply Di. I guess its a question we will have to ask from now on, the insurance companies don't seem to give TOO much information about exceptions etc unless pressed.
Good point Fay.... the question needs asking. I am going to ask mine now actually because you can bet your boots even an injury to the hips of a dog rather than HD would cause you to have to fight your corner once they heard the word 'labrador' 'problems' ' hips' in the same sentence...
Hmmmm good job you raised this.

It will be a shame if all insurance companies start to exclude this. Can imagine that this may cause a lot of people to think about how to treat their dog if they can not afford the operations or treatment.
