Just been to weigh Ugo and he has put on nearly 3 kgs in just under a week! He's back up to 33kg and is so much perkier than he was a week ago.

He had a vit B12 injection on Tuesday evening and since then I have been feeding him an extra meal at lunch time and adding a can of rice pudding per day to his meals. I am also soaking his food for a couple of hours before feeding as I wondered if this would help him digest it better

So in total he is having approx 450 g of Wafcol salmon and potato, a can of rice pudding and a Yocult per day plus extra treats for walks and training.

He's stools are still horrible but as long as the weight is going on I'm not going to worry about that for now! I should get the rest of his blood results next week.

Ugo wishes to thank all the cuddly labs who offered to donate their excess kilo's to him!!

Good to hear that he is making such good progress Becs.

I've obviously missed things here but has Ugo got a delicate stomach or does he have trouble with food allergies? It just seems that you have to give him a fairly careful diet.

Best wishes

Fay

Hi Fay,
Ugo has had a dodgy stomach almost since when we first had him at 8 weeks old. He then went on to contract Giardia and Salmonella which we discovered back in Oct/Nov time and had weeks of AB's and other treatment. He finally got the all clear from the Salmonella a week ago but in the meantime he lost 5 kgs in a month (from when the AB's stopped)

He has had blood tests done and we are still waiting for the results will will tell us if he has an overgrowth of bacteria in his small intestine, a pancreatic disease or a vit B12 deficiency, If they come back clear then we have to look at Inflamation of the bowel and food intolerance.

It seems like its been an awful long time since he's been really well.

Oh no, poor little chap and what a heck of a lot you've had to put up with.

Your problems with him are particularly interesting because I'm going through a similar situation at the moment with a pup that seems to have constant bouts of the squits, stops eating, gets listless and dull.

He's been having tests for stomach problems and has just has some blood tests as well.

Very best wishes for Ugo and you, I hope the bloods don't show anything horrid and that he can fully recover soon.

Fay
