I think you have to be exposed to them from an early age to find them facinating. My Grandad always had hens at the bottom of his urban garden, and I would spend virtually every Sunday digging up worms for them and I would watch them for hours.

Oh for the simple pleasures...Kids these days miss out on so much, with all their computer games and virtual pets.

Gawd I'm sounding old this morning... Embarassed Laughing Laughing

That small little grey dumpy - is called a Lavender Pekin - Not sure just yet about the others? well apart from the Polish Laughing

You may ask why I know??? Because we breed and show both breeds and lots more we have around 150 ish at the moment lol

My husband is a top class exhibition Judge we show and judge all over England - are you going to SHOW??

That's the one...I couldn't remember what the breeder called her....We just call her Dilys though. Wink Laughing

The others are cross breeds, although I haven't a clue what they are corssed with.

I'd never thought about showing chickens.....mmm...I have just subscribed to Practical Poultry Mag...and joined their forum Embarassed ..but no doubt I'll need to pick plenty of brains. I'd like to go to a chicken show (is that what you call them???), just to see what goes on....How do you find out about where they are held????
