I do love a soft boiled eggy...but these are so small I have no idea how long to boil them for....so I think I might poach them instead for my brekkie tomorrow...
Personally I dont 'get' hens as pets but after looking at those links I could be persuaded
I think you have to be exposed to them from an early age to find them facinating. My Grandad always had hens at the bottom of his urban garden, and I would spend virtually every Sunday digging up worms for them and I would watch them for hours.
Oh for the simple pleasures...Kids these days miss out on so much, with all their computer games and virtual pets.
That small little grey dumpy - is called a Lavender Pekin
That's the one...I couldn't remember what the breeder called her....We just call her Dilys though.
The others are cross breeds, although I haven't a clue what they are corssed with.
I'd never thought about showing chickens.....mmm...I have just subscribed to Practical Poultry Mag...and joined their forum ..but no doubt I'll need to pick plenty of brains. I'd like to go to a chicken show (is that what you call them???), just to see what goes on....How do you find out about where they are held????
