Thought I'd run this one past you guys to see what you think
An older labby person told me that if your dog is still being a menace and humping and exserting himself after a castration then the tubes can reconnect so the castration fails
True or an old wives tail
Thats what I thought Jules I mean, they take it all away don't they not like in humans when its just the tubes tied and everything else is left there
I mean you can see the difference in hubbys op and Maxi's

Sorry, but
I can only think they maybe getting confused with some dogs with a retained testicle. It could then look as if they had been castrated, but the hormones would still be there from the hidden *ball*.
As others have said, the op cannot "Fail", but what is not always appreciated is that there is a period of up to six months, before the hormones have died away when it is still possible for a dog to sire a litter.
In the normal event, castration will "REDUCE" humping. If the situation is not too bad before the op it could stop it completely. If the situation is really bad then it can improve it a bit. But castration is not, and can never be, a guarantee of an end to humping, or anything else for that matter. It is simply not the cure it is often touted as.
Thanks John this is a 5 year old lab that was castrated when young and the coment was from someone who has worked with dogs for a long time, even breeding them at one time and I'd say around your age John(sorry )
