As some of you know i have been concerned with cassies weight for a while and took her to get weighted yesterday she was 37.5kg...vet says he wasnt overly concecerned...i still wasnt happy and couldnt settle last night because of it...
Anyway took her back this morning and weighed her again she was 36.6kg then was told the scales can be a bit tempremantal <sp> then i worked out i has my bag on the scale trying to get cassie to sit last night...im getting confusing huh...
Any the other vet was passing tyhis morning and said cassir is fat :cry:he says she should only be 31kg at her last check up she was 34.3kg and the vet said that was that was a ideal weight for her now cassie is a fussy eater and has 1 pouch highlife moist every evening for dinner tho it says she should have up too 3 and i swear doesnt get many treats...she doest like biscutes...
Now i have been ill for a few weeks and she hasnt been getting walked to the same amount as normal i feel guilty..
i suppose my real question is should i put her on a light food or how else can i help her loose weight i feel so guilty and horrible about making her a podgey...
Anyway any tips or ideas would be greatfully recieved..
sorry about the long rant that has prob got confusing but i am so worried i am hurting cassie...she is the other half of me..

oh elle do you have a photo of her to show?? I think going by eye is better then the scales sometimes! Please do not feel guilty if you are not feeling well then there is nothing you can do she will be ok without her walk for a wee while until you are fit and well again. Now it doesn't sound like she eats much so I find it hard to believe she could be THAT podgy as you put it????
Don't panic Elle take a step back and a deeep breath!!! ok now xx
Stop toturing yourself Elle, & as Karen says the eye is better than the scales! . Ves tend to tell people more often than not that their dog is over weight & then try to flog them Hills Science Diet light lol!
I'm sure its just prob ably down to the less exercise route, as soon as you are better ~& you get out more again she'll drop some of it!!!
Oh Elle ((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))) hun
Fudge has hi life moist too and has 1/2 of a bag on a morning and 3/4 on an evening she is fussy too and won't do dry at all even wetting it lol
I find she puts weight on quite quickly when she doesn't get her normal amount of exercise. I'm sure that as soon as you are up and about properly again and you are taking her out more she will start to lose it
doh ok i have the web cam that takes pics i will try and get on in a while when i can get her to stand near it without being scared of it and running off...
I too think that sight or feel is a good indicator of a good or bad weight.
Went to the vets this morning and, surprise, surprise, there were two labs in there, a black and a choccie. The black looked about the right weight but the choccie would have been on a diet in my house weeks before.
However, if you have been ill and therefore cut the exercise down but not the food, that would probably account for any weight gain. Don't beat yourself up about it.
If it were me, I would cut down the food a bit and then increase it again when you are fit and well, ready for those 10 mile walks
