I have booked onto a gundog training course & this morning received an email with the below in it:

" As Jansen is a Labrador, we will assume that you are interested in training for the Retriever Grade One test, and send you paperwork accordingly, unless you let us know otherwise. Mr Erskine is happy to train for either the Retriever or the Hunting Retriever categories of Grade One test, and so you are not restricted to the Retriever test if it is not your preference."

What is the difference between the Retriever & The Hunting Retriever categories ?

i'd guess the Hunting Retriever is a course for training dogs to flush out game rather than retrieving it. but thats just my guess.
