Hi,
Just thought I would post a message to say hello to everybody, I am new to the site and the owner of an 8mth old lab bitch called Rosie.
I am looking to gain some inspiration / advice with regard to training, especially walking on a lead, as at the moment we have a battle of wills going on.
Why is it all training learnt at home goes out the window once Rosie is outside!!!!!!
I will post some pic's of my adorable girl at some point in the near future.
As to training ... it is because there are loads of distractions outside as against to inside, so you just need to make sure that she is focused on you when you are outside
I have found cheese to be good when trying to teach walk to heel
If you can get her focused on you instead of what is going on around her, you're half way there I usually have a piece of something in my hand and use the command "what's this?" to get her attention on me, as soon as she looks, i give her the treat and commence walking, talking to her all the time, saying heel etc. as soon as she starts to pull/be distracted, I use the whats this command again to regain her focus on me, and off we go again, it is a long process but you get there in the end.
