I had great news today from my wonderful vet.....Ugo has now tested negative from the horrible salmonella and Giardia...It has been a long haul since Nov when he was first diagnosed and he has ben pumped full of AB's...a 3 week course followed by a 6 week course, Weeks when he wasn't allowed out, bad guts, etc. But through it all he has been a star.
But I'm still worried about him. He still has very loose and foul smelling stools. A few weeks ago he actuially started to look like he was putting on some weight and starting to loose his gaunt look (he weighed in at 35kg but he is a very big dog) but now he has gone back to looking very skinny...its not just me as other people have commented on it too. He is still on Wafcol salmon and potato but if I try to increase the amount to more than a large cupful and a half 2x day it goes through him. Also he is lathargic and sleeps way too much for an 11 month old lab. He always eats his meals, never vomits, and enjoys his walks but he is not right.
The vet is going to see him again tomorrow evening. She agrees that he can't aford to loose weight. She said it might be as a result of all the AB's and he may need some probiotics, or it could be food intolerance, or even a pancreatic disease. I just want him well and full of the joys again

Aww Sorry to hear Ugo not being quite himself. Its great that the salmonella and Giardia has vanished!
Live yoghurt will help his guts to replenish the good bacteria. Hope your vet can help you out tomorrow.
I'll send some ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~healing vibes~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ as they seem to work alot!

Oh Becs.....Poor Ugo has been a real worry for you lately.....I wonder if he has an intollerance to something in his diet....It may not even be in his main meals, but it could be something in his Scooby snacks. Have you tried cutting all of these out to see if it makes any difference??? I know you probably have though. Is he still *snacking* on things he's finding in the garden too??? As I know this makes Oyster very loose.
Oyster sends her love and sympathies to her boyfriend too......She also has the Deli Bellies today...but I think hers is due to "Womens Problems".
Oh Becs, good to hear Ugo is free from the Salmonella and Giarda, sorry to hear he`s losing weight tho, hope the vet can get to the bottom of that for him too
