Thanks to your advice I now have a beautiful chocolate pup called Sadie. Having had the near miss with the bad breeder in Muswell Hill I bought a pup from the lovely Mrs Colley at Jimjoy 2 weeks ago.
Obviously we couldn't decide which pup to choose but once we mentioned that we may like to breed later she told us which one she would choose. Quite rightly she made us sign a contract preventing us from breeding unless Sadie's scores are suitably good.
Sadie has settled in beautifully, the two older cats ignore her, the middle two play a bit and the kittens treat her just like another kitten. My two young children overexcite her on occasion and end up getting more than they bargained for but its clearly all play and all concerned are learning when to stop.
Sadie understands where she is supposed to go to the toilet and we haven't had a poo inside the house for a few days now. She has never whined from her cage at night nor soiled her bed.
Pure luck and nothing to do with us but we have so far had the easiest puppy in the world. I am sure we will pay for it later!
Anyway, thanks again to everyone who replied to my previous post about breeders. Without you I would now own a pup with bad hips. My local vet treats a dog from the Muswell Hill breeder and the dogs all have bad hips.
Having had such an easy time of it we cant wait for puppy no.2. Having had such a good experience at Jimjoy I think we shall find out when her black labs are breeding again and wait for one of those. We have heard varied advice about how close two pups should be. Some say no sooner than 18 months, others as little as four months. I would like ours to be as close together as is sensible. As always, your advice is appreciated, look what it saved me last time!
Welcome to LF! It's great to hear stories of people loving, appreciating and enjoying their time with their pup! Too often I hear of people getting pups impulsively and then getting frustrated and regretful.
