had a worrying moment on friday when Oscar nipped out onto the back for a pee. He was out there no more than 30 secs and for most of that i watched him out of the window but by the time he got back in he stood in the kitchen and wouldn't put one of his back legs on the floor....

at first i checked his paw to see if he had something stuck in it but no... by the time i called the specialists who did his hips in December he was puting weight on it but was aparent that something wasn't quite right... The specialist said that if he's putting weight on it then it's not come out of it's socket or broken it so to rest him strictly over the weekend which we've done.....

he's not happy tho... he walks around on it but trying an touch it and he doesn't like you too, his ears drop and he looks nervous, i'm begining to think that he's twisted his knee... well i'm hoping that's what he's done and it's nothing to do with his hips Confused so we're off to my normal vets to see what he has to say...

fingers crossed... the poor little mite has been through so much

oh dear Susie - poor Oscar. What a worry for you after all he's been through.

Hopefully he's just pulled a muscle or twisted something. I'm sure his hip won't have come out as I'm sure he would be crying and in real pain. I know Graham told us that the crucial time was the first 6 weeks and after that the bone should be knitting round the new hip. Although I must admit I won't really relax until Charlie has his 6 month post op x-ray in April.

A few weeks ago Charlie was playing with another lab (not rough play) and suddenly yelped and came hobbling to us holding one of his back legs up. We panicked big style as you can imagine and made him rest for 10 mins. By then he seemed a bit better and we went back to the car and by the time we got home he was fine. I'm guessing he pulled or twisted something.

Let us know what the vet says but I think if you're still worried it would be worth taking him back to Buckley House to put your mind at rest

just back from the vets..

they think oscar has twisted his back end awkward and he's now on complete bed rest for a week then we'll go back and see how he is getting on..

thanks everyone for your kind words.... it is comforting...

Wendy i can imagine what you went through when you heard Charlie yelp Confused instinct is to think it's his hips and i'm the same as you and don't think i'll rest until his 6 month x rays

thanks again everyone
xxx

Sending the biggest, strongest (and lickiest says Boomer) healing vibes...

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Fingers crossed he makes a speedy and full recovery. I can't imagine how I'd feel if Boomer injured herself after all we've been through with her hips over the past few months.

Keep us updated...
