As Lucy advised this thread was about Microchipping not tattooing...but seeing as you asked.....I see you say CJ's tattoo is causing you a problem. You say you have to ' stretch ' his ear for it to be read. Both my girls have to have their ear bent back and ' opened ' to be read. That is normal.
Assuming CJ's tat, with the ear ' opened ' can be read, then there is no reason, requirement or obligation for him to have another.

If all the numbers are present.....albeit difficult to read....it will still be fine Denise. Even if a couple of numbers / letters are ' obscure ' they will still relate to your lab.
Look at it this way.......the tattooist has his/her own ' reference number ' ( part of the tat ) the remaining numbers ( obscure or not ) have been catalogued.
So .....the likelyhood of another dog with similiar numbers being a lab, the right age / colour / sex / entire or not / chipped/ contact address reduces all odds to zilcz......'
