Hello everyone, Brook has been spayed today and she is home but a little sleepy, everything went well and have to take her back in couple of days but she has started shaking and groaning a little is this a sign of the meds coming out of her system has anyone else had similar experience just needing a bit of reassurance as new to this many thanks x xx
You're right...the GA makes some of them a bit wobbly...they can also whimper, shake, cry.....even wet themselves. Usuallly by the next morning normal service is resumed though.
Second Jules - Boo shivered for about an hour in the evening & then weed her bed. We slept down stairs on the sofa bed with her in the lounge, soppy us, she was out for the count all nite and we lay there waiting for her to need us! Things should settle down in the morning.
Fogot to say she didnt eat or drink until the next day either.
Hope Brook has a very speedy recovery.
Awww, lots of healing vibes winging their way to Brook.. Sadie was sick a couple of times and ate just a tiny bit of chicken and rice before bed... she also weed her bed too, bless.....
Bet she's much better in the morning
As the others have said its most likely the effects of the GA, be sure to make sure Brook is warm now and thru the night, she`ll be too disorientated to move about and move herself about to keep warm.
Brook will be fine, maybe a tad lethargic tomorrow but probably eating, wednesday perfectly normal and you`ll be here asking how to keep her calm for the next 10 days
Jess had her op on 21st Dec. She was exactly the same, its the after effects of the general anaesthetic, its very hard not to worry about them isn't it? But she was very sleepy and did a lot of groaning in her sleep! I used an old T shirt knotted over her back to keep her off her stitches for the first couple of days, instead of the buster collar, but she didn't bother too much with them.
She probably wont eat anything tonight, and just give her sips of water and she will be much improved tomorrow, keep us posted please!
