" I'd love to watch some trials, are spectators allowed? "
Well yes, at working tests they are positively encouraged and most judges are super, allowing you up quite close to watch to get the best view possible. These are the spring/summer months test we so. They are not allowed really at field trials in the winter as it is a shooting day and a whole load of health and safety rulings come into play with live ammo and birds dropping from great heights randomly... but yes working tests definately.... would you like me to find some near you in the Spring Summer months to go watch? Where do you live?

Oh John, AMEN to your comments about muddy guns boots in the car, and also them thinking everything they only lightly touched fell like a stone!
" Amy's stretching the area she's hunting out a little wide for my liking. "
I love the polite terminology! Me, I can say Mallie (one of the other girls is currently) hunting an area the size of Sussex for a bird a foot long right now The Cow
I was quite pleased that after the test Sunday had a chat with the judges and they said 'well she wasn't perfect but at least she is on the whistle which most of them weren't by the end of the shooting season...' Felt all warm and glowing She is my only dog that still IS at this time of year
So Amy is in good company

Just wanted to add my congratulations to you Di and to Jade of course. Your enthusiasm and dedication jumps out from the page and even for the very uneducated in this field like me it really makes you want to know what it's all about
Loved reading all your explanations and your convos back and forth with JohnW are mind bogglingly addictive
Was the test local to you? I am not too far away, in Surrey, and would love to see in the flesh what it's all about. It sounds blooming marvellous stuff
Thank you what nice comments! Really proud you said that, I do love showing the dogs, and I do love breeding but working them is what i would do if I could *only* do one thing with my dogs...(other than having them around as my pets which they are too I can assure you...)
You are very close to me, I regularly compete in Surrey through the Spring Summer and Autumn months, even more so in Kent (even though i am in Sussex) I'd be pleased to give you some dates or let people know when and where I will be sometimes to see if anyone wants to come watch everyone compete - does that sound boastful? I don't mean it to... I know everyone who has ever watched a working test has usually really enjoyed it.... and found the different dog work interesting, and how, they are usually full of praise for the winners and facinated how badly behaved some top exhibitors dogs are when they want to be - just like everyones!!!! Going deaf, leaping in the lake when they shouldn't, charging off too soon, sticking their nose up a bitches bottom when they should be working, charging around with the dummy and not bringing it back! Etc..... of course...cough....never MY dogs - grin!

We live in South Hertfordshire, so anything we could go and see within an hours drive would be great. I say that as I suspect I may struggle to get the OH as enthused as I am!!
